I am using the following conversion code:

However, I am facing some problems with this conversion code as I am new to c++. It seems to work fine when converting from a long to a double or vice versa but if I do the opposite, it seems to work partially.
My question is: Is the conversion code above correct? and why does it work partially?

There are a couple of issues with this conversion code. First off, since it's in a header, the header will be included multiple times, which can result in unexpected behavior. The best way to make sure that your conversion code functions as you expect is to put it in a separate.cpp file and include it just once.
A second issue is with the cast in the long.i line. As is pointed out in the comments, this is undefined behavior. For the data you're passing in, the C++ compiler is free to do whatever it wants with the resulting data, which makes the behavior unpredictable.
